A small atelier for masquerade masks: glazed porcelain over a cast of a real face, gold filigree drawn once for each piece and never repeated.
Every mask carries its own pattern of vines and coils. The gold is laid by brush and fired a second time.
The masks start as a plaster cast taken over a sculpted face, so the porcelain follows the brow, the cheekbone and the bridge of the nose instead of sitting flat.
Each piece is fired twice: once for the glaze, white or black, and once more for the gold. The filigree is drawn freehand and no two masks share it.
We take a handful of commissions a season. The list for this season is closed; new dates will appear here.
